Yeasts for Improved Ethanol Yields

Ethanol produced from cellulosic biomass is the ideal liquid fuel to replace gasoline fuel additives. This invention is an improved recombinant of a yeast strain that is capable of efficiently fermenting both glucose and xylose sugars found in cellulosic biomass into ethanol. The conversion is especially efficient for the conversion of xylose sugars.
