| Public Title | Anodic and Cathodic Electrografting Of Alkynes On Porous Silicon | | Division | | | Lead Inventor | Buriak, Jillian | | Public Description | This invention allows two methods of forming silicon-carbon bonds between a silicon surface and an organic molecule. This rapid and simple process exploits the electrochemical reactivity of a terminal carbon-carbon triple bond and a hydrogen-terminated silicon surface. One embodiment of this invention allows a direct conjugated link between surface arid molecule to be formed using a silicon-carbon bond as an electronic connector. Another embodiment allows a robust, resistive organic protecting layer to be rapidly and efficiently formed. This technique is useful for the facile creation of diverse functionalized silicon surfaces using a silicon electrode. | | Patent Status | | | Public References | | | Key Words | |
