| Public Title | Vertical Carbon Nanotube Devices in Nanoporous Templates | | Division | | | Lead Inventor | Maschmann, Matthew | | Public Description | As electronic products and internal components get smaller in size and faster in operating speed, the need for heat dissipation increases. The electric power dissipated in the form of heat is highly dependent on the resistance of the material carrying the electricity; thus, a concentrated effort has been made to lower the resistance of the material itself. Purdue inventors have developed a novel method to reduce the resistance of both conductive and semi-conductive materials by embedding carbon nano-tubes into such materials. This reduces the electric power consumed and lost via heat dissipation for such materials. | | Patent Status | | | Public References | | | Key Words | |
