Public DescriptionIn recent years, portable and battery operated computing and communication systems like personal digital assistants (PDA’s), cell-phones and digital organizers have become extremely popular. As improvements to these technologies continue to make them state of the art, the need arises for improvements in the battery life of these devices. Purdue researchers have developed a novel method that significantly lengthens the battery life of a portable device by reducing the amount of energy consumed by the device’s integrated circuits while in standby mode.
