Public DescriptionLaw enforcement agencies who are investigating a crime scene are faced with the problem of matching crime scene photographs to a large body of evidence from previous cases. If done manually, this can take an enormous amount of time and effort. Purdue University inventors have developed a novel method that matches digital images that are very similar. This method returns the closest matches of previous crime scene photographs available from a large database of images. This method reduces the amount of time required for a crime scene investigation.
