| Public Title | Adenoviral Vector-mediated Gene Therapy Approach for Breast Cancer and Development of an Immunocompetent Breast Cancer Mouse Model | | Division | | | Lead Inventor | Mittal, Suresh | | Public Description | Various monoclonal antibody-based treatments for breast cancer exist at different stages of development. Present technologies utilize the nude mouse model of breast cancer, which is not a true reflection of what may occur in normal animals in response to these therapeutics. Purdue researchers found that, in breast cancer cells, the receptor tyrosine kinase EphA2 is over-expressed and, therefore, provides a unique target for breast cancer intervention. An immunocompetent mouse model of breast cancer has been developed for evaluating various therapeutic approaches including those involving activation or inhibition of EphA2. | | Patent Status | | | Public References | | | Key Words | Biotechnology, Biotechnology/Gene & cell therapy, Biotechnology/Model systems |
