Public Title Searching 3D Shapes By Matching 2D Views Division Lead Inventor Ramani, Karthik Public Description 3D models play an important role in many mainstream CAD applications but, in many design environments, engineers express their concept of a 3D shape in 2D views. This novel search system has been developed to search 3D shapes using 2D inputs. This system includes a free-form sketch interface which allows the user to submit queries. The user may also make modifications to the shapes presented in the results and re-submit the query on the previously retrieved 3D models. This provides for more accurate results and more efficient searching. Finally, this system can easily integrate with many commercial CAD packages.
