Accounting Manager

Essential Functions

  • Prepare timely, relevant and accurate reporting and analysis of departmental operations and budgets.
  • Perform and maintain accounting functions in accordance with policies and procedures in the areas of chart of accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, budget, and all related systems and processes.
  • Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
  • Manage accounts payable and check writing functions of all entities.
  • Provide oversight and instruction to two Operations Assistants.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual budget reports and analysis.
  • Maintain and develop various financial models and standard templates distributed for use by all of Finance during the planning processes ensuring quality, accuracy and focused analytic review.
  • Prepare financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested.
  • Research and resolve inquiries from management.
  • Utilize various computer financial information systems in the preparation of analyses, evaluation and reports.
  • Accounting and General Office
    • Perform monthly account analysis review and reconciliations for PRF.
    • Prepare journal entries and check requests for PRF.
    • Review of daily invoice processing to ensure accuracy of information and post invoice data to general ledger (FinalStop).
    • Review daily journal entries to ensure accuracy of information and post journal entries to general ledger as needed. 
    • Reconcile monthly operating bank statements for all entities.
    • Manage 1099 and sales/use tax processes.
    • Manage three credit card programs.
  • Ross Ade Foundation
    • Prepare annual financial statements for audit.
    • Maintain chart of accounts.
    • Prepare journal entries and check requests.
    • Track semi-annual debt service COPS payments for Ross Ade Foundation. 
    • Record bank service fees and interest income from checking accounts and investment accounts. Wire money to/from checking account.
    • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
    • Coordinate audit reviews.
  • IPFW Foundation
    • Review annual financial statements for audit.
    • Serve as a resource for complex accounting transactions/procedures.
    • Review journal entries to ensure accuracy of information and post to general ledger.
  • Budget
    • Assist with annual budget in compliance with applicable budget policy and guidelines
    • Monitor PRF departmental budgets.
  • Closing Procedures and Audit
    • Assist in preparing year end entries and reconciliations for review.
    • Prepare necessary schedules for PRF audit.
    • Facilitate information gathering based on auditor requests.
  • Debt program
    • Initiate and track semi-annual bond payments.
    • Track and record principal and interest payments for commercial loans.
  • Banking
    • Audit daily JP Morgan Chase banking system for ACH and wire transfer payments and direct to appropriate entity/staff members for processing.
    • Initiate transfer of funds via ACH and/or wire transfer.
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for PRF.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of tax, financial reporting and debt management.
  • High level skills in MS Excel required.
  • Skilled in MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle frequent interruptions, prioritize tasks and give close attention to details while meeting deadlines with accurate results.
  • Must make sound judgments and be comfortable and professional interacting with a diverse group of individuals both internal and external to the Foundation.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting/Finance.
  • CPA preferred. 
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience required.
