Director of Real Estate

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for records of all real estate owned or leased by Purdue Research Foundation.
  • Responsible for coordination and completion of all real estate transactions.
  • Responsible for proper filing of all real estate related tax filings.
  • Responsible for coordination of notification and valuation for all properties with Purdue Office of Risk Management for insurance purposes.
  • Oversight of the PRF Residential department staff and operations.
  • Coordination of all activities relating to real estate for PRF with Purdue University.
  • Responsible for PRF real estate closed sales, dashboard information, and results.

Additional Responsibilities

Development Office

o   Create policy and procedure guidelines for gifted real estate.

o   Assist in soliciting Real Estate donations through realtors and other contacts.

o   Efficiently and effectively market gifted properties.

o   Market and sell properties received by the Foundation in Trust.


o   Develop and maintain priority list of desired real estate acquisitions.

o   Develop and maintain a list of real estate for sale and market as appropriate.

o   Handle necessary insurance notifications to appropriate parties.

Farmland Leasing

o   Negotiate all farmland leasing and prepare leases for signature.


o   Coordinate Real Estate activities and planning with the School of Agriculture.

o   Meet with Purdue Agriculture staff as needed as Agriculture liaison.

o   Interact with University personnel as necessary for the proper operation of the farming system.

Purdue West

o   Supervise and manage Purdue West.

General Duties

o   Member of Planned Giving Committee.

o   Rent properties for Purdue as requested by the University.

o   Monitor all of Ross-Ade Foundation’s land contracts.

o   Chair and lead the Leasing Committee.

o  Provide direct supervision to Executive Assistant, Leasing Director, and Manager-Residential Housing.

o   Serve as staff for real estate matters for the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer.

o   Provide real estate tax evaluation and analysis.

o   Serve as a resource to regional campus in regards to rental, acquisition, and land leases in conjunction with the University Real Estate Office and at their request.

o   Other projects as assigned by the Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work closely with academic and business communities, senior business leaders, professional service providers, community leaders and University officials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Occasional availability to respond to emergency situations after normal office hours.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in real estate development.
