Essential Functions

  • Work in cooperation with Purdue Research Foundation Marketing and Communications and other colleagues to create effective and creative designs.  
  • Apply creative strategy to marketing materials from concept to completion including print collateral; digital art such as social media and email/web banners; environmental graphics and special event materials. 
  • Manage the production of communication pieces with vendors from gathering print estimates, proofing to delivery method. 
  • Edit photography as required and in adherence to brand guidelines. 
  • Work collaboratively and collegially with colleagues to complete projects on time and with high quality. 
  • Collaborate and contribute to the design process through participation in creative discussion, contributing input on the overall look of marketing materials and seeking inspiration through research of design trends and key markets. 


Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist other members of the Marketing and Communications team as needed to further initiatives, special events and supporting internal customers. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent design, color sense, and typographic ability (portfolio review required).
  • Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow Purdue Research Foundation style guide and Purdue University visual branding guidelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe software:  InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Thorough understanding of the design process and printing process; working knowledge of digital photography and design.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other similar software.
  • Ability to analyze and organize groups of information in a comprehensive visual manner. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at different professional and experience levels; ability to respond constructively to feedback.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, produce high-quality work with attention to detail, self-motivated.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.



  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design, visual communications, marketing, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of graphic design experience; a combination of education and relevant experience may substitute. 
  • HTML/CSS and website management experience a plus.
