Information Technology Analyst

Essential Functions:

  • Assist staff in the development and creation of reports and data sets used in areas of intellectual property, property management and finance.
  • Develop, test, and document programs for the accurate and timely transfer of data between systems.
  • Assist users by creating and maintaining SQL projects.
  • Maintain and modify (as needed) a comprehensive relational database and reporting system to support the internal and external operations of the OTC office.
  • Create, remove, and maintain user accounts and customization in Finance system.
  • Assist users with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint questions or troubleshooting.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist users with basic application software support in Finance, Leasing and Office of Technology Commercialization areas.
  • Create and maintain Excel Macros to be used in the transfer of data between systems.
  • Assist with the development, testing, implementation and maintenance of all departmental software and applications.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of procedures and changes to reports and communicate to users how changes will affect use of the application.
  • Assist coworkers in automating recurring tasks.
  • Orient and train new staff in the use of departmental software and applications.
  • Evaluate user requests for new reports or changes to reports and help them develop strategies to accomplish their objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of SQL, Access, and/or Visual Basic required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications, especially Excel macros or automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance interruptions and handle multiple and varied tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be tactful, exercise diplomacy and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with financial reporting a plus.
  • At least one year information technology experience  with an emphasis on Office, SQL and Cognos or other report writing experience preferred.
