Essential Functions

  • Responsible for customer discovery, promotion, and sales of Purdue Foundry know how and methodology to other entrepreneurial communities.
  • Respond to grant, RFP, and business opportunities.
  • Manage sales and client database.
  • Work in cooperation with other Purdue Foundry staff to identify new training materials to enhance the consulting portfolio.
  • Coordinate with PRF media/marketing team to update website information, marketing, and sales materials. 
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for client marketing and promotion.
  • Consult with clients on issues pertaining to user experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with both the academic and business communities as a facilitator for the transfer of information, concepts, cooperation, and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with senior business leaders, professional service providers, and university officials
  • Ability to lead budgeting, contractor supervision, policies and procedures implementation, and program management.
  • Well-developed skills in verbal and written communication, in one-to-one settings, small groups, and more formal settings with audiences of 50+ listeners.
  • Proven supervisory and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate staff work activities of a small, efficient staff required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.


  • A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, information technology, or business administration/management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of specific experience in business development or business management experience.
  • Direct experience with small business, start-up ventures or with high technology innovations and/or ventures preferred.
