Position Summary:

Application Specialist is responsible for communication between sales, service, leadership, customers and other team members; building and maintaining strong customer/channel/employee relationships. The Application Specialist is expected to maintain an exceptional working relationship with the service organization and build out best practices to support customer needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the sales team to manage pre- and post- sale support of customer applications
  • Provide Reach-Back method analysis and development services to customers
  • Partner with the sales and service teams - implement the Go-to-Market business development strategy for GC/MS products
  • Develop application notes for sale support
  • Provide feedback to marketing, product management and R&D regarding application, hardware, and software features needed to stay ahead of changing market
  • Make sound, well informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of these decisions; commit to action, that supports accomplishment of organizational goals



  • PhD in Chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or similar customer support
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered
  • Strong understanding of GC/MS technology and applications
  • Working knowledge of cutting-edge technologies and applications
  • Aptitude to understand and communicate scientific concepts, applications, and methods
  • Ability to communicate clear, concise and professionally with customers, management, and internal staff both verbally and in written format
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups
  • Ability to balance customer demands with sound business management that effectively match resources to the job and execute to meet business needs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and projects with little direction and supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and assess, accept/make changes quickly to meet timelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Must be available to travel approximately 20%; Possession of or ability to attain a US Passport for international travel
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds (the approximate weight of a Griffin G510)
  • US Citizenship required
  • Possession of or ability to attain a DOD Security Clearance


  • Experience with Mobile Mass Spectrometers
  • US Military experience
  • Ability to speak a second language
