Director of Project Management

This is a great opportunity for an experienced agricultural project management leader to significantly contribute to accelerate the growth of Inari. As Inari continues to expand the development of gene edited products, the need for a professional management of the products along our stage gate process, integrating the complex set of cross-functional activities ranging from science to pre commercial has become increasingly important. This role will be responsible for overseeing the management of our portfolio of projects as well as directly managing product projects within our portfolio to ensure products are delivered on-time and with the required market characteristics. This role will be  based at Inari’s W. Lafayette, IN and will report to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) with cross interactions with the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and the Chief Growth Officer (CGO). 


  • Lead a team of project manager(s) and guide them in managing the projects for which they are responsible
  • Lead the management of some of the most complex projects yourself
  • Ensure that the most efficient tools and processes are used by the project managers to meet project objectives and share information and reports effectively across groups 
  • Partner with members of the cross-functional Product, Science and Growth Leadership Team (LT) in the following actions:
    • Identify project team members and launch project teams
    • Align project objectives across Commercial, Science, Product Development, IP, Legal, Regulatory teams during the development process
    • Develop, monitor, and report on high level project progress
      • Create project plans with clear milestones, deliverables, and accountabilities
      • Ensure projects move forward against timelines and monitor progress
      • Identify risks and plan for mitigation
      • Manage project resources and identify additional resources / adjustments required with key project team members
      • Prepare for stage gate transitions and decision by the governance body 
    • Escalate any issues to the Inari LT as needed for resolution 
    • Complete post-project learnings to share with the organization and leadership team to inform future projects 
  • Work together with CPO, CSO and CGO to facilitate the prioritization of the product project portfolio, identify projects coming into the pipeline, discuss resource allocations among projects


  • At least 10 years in a project manager role in an agricultural company with a track record of managing a portfolio of products and cross-functional projects
  • A strong ability to understand the objectives of the company, support prioritization and management of resource allocation in an agile environment
  • Experience with plant biotechnology and familiarity with gene editing in plants- capacity to understand the science and technologies at high level 
  • An ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally- A collaborative mindset that is open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback
  • Skills in mapping out complex projects, anticipating roadblocks and partnering with team members to resolve them
  • An ability to manage cross-functional project teams with a range of levels of members, without having reporting lines and both co-located and virtual
  • Creative and strategic thinking, willingness to be bold and take risks, and the ability to recognize and learn from failure
  • Flexibility to adjust plans and approaches based on evolving needs and business requirements
  • Superior communication skills and ability to prepare and present clear and concise reports and recommendations tailored to an audience
  • A strong sense of purpose and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, innate curiosity, and a passion for learning


  • Project management experience in corn and soybean is a plus
  • Previous use of Project Management software
  • Familiarity with Google suite tools
