ABOUT THE ROLE…

This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated Research Associate to join our fast-growing and collaborative team. This is a hands-on, lab-based role with a focus on molecular cloning.

AS A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, YOU WILL…

  • Design and build plasmids using restriction cloning, Golden Gate assembly and Gibson assembly
  • Perform standard molecular biology techniques such as: primer design, PCR, plasmid extraction from E. coli, restriction mapping, Sanger sequencing, media preparation and growth of bacterial cultures using sterile technique
  • Transform Agrobacterium with plasmids and confirm their identity using molecular techniques
  • Take ownership of a portion of a Quality Management System pipeline to ensure the quality of molecular materials through analytical testing and maintenance of records in database systems
  • Maintain an accurate, comprehensible and current laboratory journal
  • Communicate results in written technical reports and oral presentation

YOU BRING....

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2+ years lab experience (required) or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. molecular biology, plant biotechnology) or equivalent lab experience (preferred)
  • Experience in molecular cloning
  • Knowledge of plant molecular biology and an interest in agriculture sciences
  • Familiarity with Geneious, Benchling, or similar software for plasmid design and construction
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and have a meaningful impact
  • Creative and strategic thinking, willingness to be bold and take risks
  • A collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback
  • Ability to work independently

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS...

  • Experience working in a production-scale environment
  • Knowledge of genome editing technologies
