Scientist - Plant Molecular Characterization

This is a great opportunity for a highly-motivated and dedicated Research Scientist to join our Plant Characterization Team to support Inari’s product development pipeline. You will engage as a research scientist and technical expert to support plant characterization and product development in a production scale and high-throughput team.   • Lead the molecular characterization of transgenic events and provide the data package for the recommendation of event advancement
  • Develop and implement the state-of-the-art molecular analytical technology to enhance plant characterization of the product development pipeline
  • Drive the quality assurance of the plant characterization and help deliver the comprehensive data package for the regulatory data submission
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop the automated high-throughput molecular characterization platform
  • Serves as a technical expert in the area of plant genetics, gene editing and molecular analyses to enhance product development
  • Work with other Scientists and Research Associates to plan and execute experiments, conduct analyses, record data and report results to the project team
  • Interpret data; maintain an accurate, comprehensive, and current laboratory record
  • Communicate results in written technical reports and oral presentations


  • A Ph.D. with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a research and development environment, or MA/MS degree with 7+ years of experience, or a BA/BS with 10+ years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Plant Physiology, Crop Science, Plant Genetics, Agronomy, Molecular Biology)
  • Extensive hands-on experience in trait development and transgenic event characterization in the agriculture biotechnology industry
  • In-depth technical knowledge in plant genetics, gene editing and Ag biotechnology
  • Strong technical expertise with a wide range of molecular analytical technologies such as targeted amplicon resequencing, capture sequencing, and other NGS, PCR, and qPCR-based transgene analysis and RNA expression workflows. Can oversee all aspects of assay development from design to validation
  • Experience in automated high-throughput workflows using NGS, qPCR, ddPCR, and other technologies to screen biological materials
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • A collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback across multiple site locations


  • Prior experience working in Regulatory science of agricultural biotech
  • Experience working in a production-scale environment
  • Working knowledge in Bioinformatics
