About the role…

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Greenhouse Assistant to join our fast-growing
and collaborative team. The primary function of this position is to assist the Greenhouse
Manager in all aspects of greenhouse operations, including plant care and basic phenotyping.
The Greenhouse Assistant will support the development of processes alongside Greenhouse
Manager to efficiently grow quality plant materials in a production scale facility in West
Lafayette, IN. The candidate, must enjoy a “start-up” atmosphere and be flexible, show
initiative, good judgment and be willing to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as
needed to achieve goals and deliverables.

As a Greenhouse Assistant you will…

● Plant, irrigate, fertilize, weed and pesticide application, prune, clean, transplant, harvest,
and maintain plants in a production-scale environment
● Quickly identify and treat plant diseases, weeds, and insect pests
● Assist in crossing, basic phenotyping, and corn embryo supply
● Notify to Greenhouse Manager of any issues related to greenhouse daily operations
● Assist the Greenhouse Manager in administrative tasks such as inventory and ordering
as needed
● Maintain detailed, accurate and comprehensible records of all tasks performed
● Ability to drive to multiple sites

You bring....

● Experience of at least 2+ years in greenhouse and production-scale environment
● Ability to work extended hours during the peak periods of planting, crossing or harvesting
including nights and weekends
● Adaptable, thrives in a constantly changing work environment
● Willing to collaborate on other projects and learn new things
● Energy, self-motivation, ownership and focused execution
● A collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and
feedback

Physical Requirements...

● Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, and able to function in physical positions such
as walking, turning, twisting, reaching and squatting
Additional Qualifications...
● Experience specifically working with corn, soybean or tomato
● Pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
● Experience with Argus or similar greenhouse monitoring equipment
● Experience in plant genetic transformation
