Job Summary:

Novosteo was founded to reduce the morbidity, mortality and loss of productivity associated with bone fractures. Based on discoveries of agents that accelerate bone regeneration and breakthroughs in methods to target these agents selectively to fracture surfaces, Novosteo has designed a series of fracture-targeted drugs that concentrate a drug's healing power specifically at the fracture site, thereby greatly accelerating and improving the healing process. The mission of Novosteo is to reduce the debilitating and often life-threatening effects of bone fractures. This Job provides the exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative team contributing to the development and discovery of new pharmacological solutions for life threatening orthopedic diseases.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain and manage bacterial and eukaryotic cell cultures
• Maintain and manage all molecular biological instruments
• Perform, optimize and evaluate the results from biological activity assays
• Evaluate the activity of drugs in vitro assays
• Evaluate toxicities generated by drug treatment in serum and tissue samples
• Prepare and evaluate histological samples
• Develop synthesize, and purify bio-conjugates
• Evaluate the activity of compounds through the quantification of micro CT images
• Perform biomechanical evaluation on treated tissues to evaluate drug activity
• Manage biohazardous waste disposal
• Contribute towards large experiments and projects

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelors or masters in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, bioengineering, or micro biology or related field
• 2 years lab experience
• Experience with ELISAs, qPCR, and other enzymatic assays
• Experience with cell culture
• Experience with in vivo imaging
• Experience with microCT imaging
• Analytical skills for conducting scientific experiments and analyzing them with precision and accuracy
• Communication skills for writing and publishing research papers and reports, giving presentations and communicating with team members
• Experience with Microsoft word, excel, power point, graph pad prism, chemdraw and other analytical software
• Critical-thinking skills for drawing conclusions from experimental results through sound judgment and reasoning
• Interpersonal skills for working well with others on a team towards a common goal
• Math skills for using complex formulas and equations in their work
• Perseverance to be thorough in their approach to problems and in their research
• Problem-solving skills when using analysis and scientific experiments to identify solutions to complex scientific problems
• Time-management skills for meeting deadlines when conducting research and prioritizing tasks
