On Target Laboratories is a U.S.-based biopharmaceutical company specializing in discovering and developing novel optical imaging agents that target and illuminate pathological cells. The Company’s technology provides surgeons a precise “lighted road map” to more effectively and efficiently diagnose and surgically treat diseased tissue ranging from cancer to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. 

On Target’s lead development candidate is OTL38, a modular compound or probe comprised of a near infra-red (NIR) dye joined by a linker system to the targeting ligand folate.  OTL38 has been proven safe in a recent phase 1 and is currently being used in a phase 3 trial in ovarian cancer and a phase 2 trial in lung cancer.  Commercialization of OTL38 for ovarian and lung cancer patients is scheduled for early 2020 and 2021 respectively.  The same proprietary NIR dye has been conjugated to additional ligands targeting prostate, brain, colorectal and other cancers. Within five years, On Target will have a solution for imaging most, if not all, solid tumors.  


Direct all aspects of general accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable and payroll. 

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Assume responsibility for all internal and external financial reporting, including quarterly financial statements (internal and board of directors’ packages), etc.

Oversee contracted accounting firm.

Direct the Company’s treasury function ensuring cash is properly and safely invested and ready for use when needed.

Perform analysis to substantiate key business assumptions (e.g., pricing, penetration, costs) required to build a forecast. 

Manage forecast and budget model. 

Update and ensure integrity of the cap table.

Review and ensure compliance with key contracts including all licensing agreements.

Oversee budgeting process. Calculate variances from budget and report significant issues to management in a timely manner.

Direct, manage and coordinate annual audits with both external corporate auditors and government grant and other audits.

Assist with special projects.

Work with clinicians and consultants to determine economic benefits of OTL molecules.  Recommend data to be collected that will substantiate economic benefit.

Work with CEO and partners to develop commercialization plan including reimbursement. 

Oversee company sub-contractors, consultants and vendors relative to invoices, purchase orders and certificates of insurance.


Requires a strong financial background with a BS degree in business, accounting or finance. A CPA certification is preferred and Big Four public accounting experience highly desirable.

Minimum of 10+ years of experience in an accounting/finance role working in fast growing companies with experience in problem solving.

Prior experience as a controller with responsibility for accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

A strong knowledge of the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.

Capabilities to develop financial business models to better analyze data.

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to collaborate with all levels of an organization.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and be able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
