On Target Laboratories, Inc. discovers and develops targeted intra-operative imaging agents which illuminate malignant lesions and other diseased tissue. These imaging agents can be used by surgeons to more precisely guide surgical oncologic procedures across a broad range of cancer types, thereby improving cancer surgery by helping to reduce the risk of recurrence and surgical complications for patients. The Professional Education Director provides clinical support and education for investigators and their surgical teams participating in clinical trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of On Target’s portfolio of intra-operative, tumor-targeted imaging agents. Further, the candidate will lead the training and professional education components of the commercialization plan for On Target’s lead product. The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Commercialization and is located in the North Eastern United States.

Specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Train all participating primary investigators and their surgical teams on the clinical use of the On Target tumor-targeted imaging agents in the clinical trial areas of lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and prostate cancer.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with trial investigators, and provide on-site support, addressing all clinical and scientific questions as they arise.
  • Develop a training and education curriculum to optimize the surgical team training experience during clinical trials.
  • Participate in the development of future commercialization plans, bringing insights from field experience and playing the role of the clinical-use subject matter expert.
  • Travel requirements 50%, including some weekend travel.  



The ideal candidate is technically-minded with a strong clinical background. The candidate will have operating room experience and familiarity with surgical protocol and procedures. Further, she/he will be proactive and a self-starter, possess a high energy level, and a clear team-orientation. This individual will need to be a creative problem solver and someone willing to take risks and learn from the experience.

Specifically, the successful candidate will have:

  • Medical Device Professional Education or Physician’s Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, with relevant experience in the surgical department and operating room [required].
  • Strong preference for working in an on-site clinical environment and experience working in a training role [preferred].
  • Technically-minded individual with education or experience in the medical device industry [preferred].
  • Strong detail-orientation and project management skills [required].
  • Proven capability to respond professionally, intelligently, and confidently to HCP inquiries [required].
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills [required].
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, “can-do” attitude, and desire to expand professional knowledge and develop new skill sets [required].
  • Certified by the various hospital credentialing services including Vendormate, Reptrax, and any other credentialing required by participating hospital systems.
