Assistant Director of Alumni Clubs

Essential Functions

  • Support the mission of Purdue for Life by helping people who love Purdue stay connected, get involved and give back.
  • Assist with the operations of the alumni club program.
  • Assist with staff liaison role for alumni clubs, volunteers, and volunteer stewardship.
    • Facilitate alumni club communications to promote engagement opportunities.
    • Assist in event planning, including the development of a communication strategy.
    • Attend and/or support alumni club activities and events.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and travel.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist Director in administrative functions relating to support for alumni club volunteers and related alumni-driven engagement activities including:

  • Data reporting and maintenance, including but not limited to contact reports and alumni engagement data reporting.
  • Assist with ongoing communications and recruitment of new alumni volunteer leaders as appropriate.
  • Provide training to club leaders on processes, policies, and technology.
  • Support the alumni club scholarship program.
  • Provide assistance with event support and pre/post-event processes.
  • Facilitate university speakers for club events.

 

Alumni Relations

  • Engage with all Purdue constituents by volunteering at, participating in, and attending activities for personalized engagement through the alumni clubs and other engagement opportunities with Purdue for Life Foundation.
  • Manage an engagement portfolio to engage alumni personally, professionally and intellectually.
  • Manage questions and follow up from alumni and alumni volunteer leaders in a timely manner to increase and develop volunteer commitment.

 Engagement Team      

  • Work as part of the Purdue for Life engagement team goals.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with Purdue alumni from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds necessary. 
  • Articulate the strategic mission of Purdue University and Purdue for Life Foundation with tact and diplomacy at all times. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate well in person, in writing and speaking before groups.
  • Skilled at conversation and networking
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, project management, motivational, initiative, problem-solving, creativity and customer service skills required. 
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM program.
  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word-processing, spreadsheets, data query, internet, etc. necessary. 
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in alumni relations or development preferred.
