Essential Functions   

  • Create new and modify existing websites in WordPress (or similar platform) to achieve organizational goals, using current tools and technology and collaborating with colleagues including content strategists, writers, and graphic designers.
  • Manage website projects by developing and sharing production timelines and providing timely communications with colleagues.
  • Provide and interpret web analytics and assist the organization in making informed, data-driven decisions based on them.
  • Oversee solution integration with web properties (Salesforce, Google Analytics).
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, and test technical solutions to continuously enhance electronic communication and data integration.
  • Continuously monitor electronic communication trends, technological advances, and higher education web practices to serve as the organization’s web development expert.
  • Develop and maintain a contingency plan for handling unforeseen events, such as interruptions in IT services.
  • Work with internal teams to enhance the effectiveness of the organization’s digital presence and integration to the website.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communications across the organization to keep all maintained pages up to date.
  • Design, implement, and research methods of visually displaying data for a varied audience, creating a visually dynamic user interface. Collaborate on the development of graphics and other visual elements to enhance visual impact of electronic communication.
  • Develop and implement new features and functionality as technological advances and market demands warrant.
  • Document solutions and develop written guidelines and training programs to ensure continuity and efficient use of technology and systems throughout the organization as appropriate.
  • Oversee updates to content management system to ensure that up-to-date security and functionality are maintained.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Self-starter with demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member.
  • Extensive knowledge of tools necessary for web design, including HTML, Java, WordPress, Photoshop, and Google Analytics.
  • Extensive experience in web interface design, including conceptualization, production, and maintenance of web-based communication solutions.
  • Ability to research and learn new software and use it creatively.
  • Ability to create client reports and communicate data and results analysis to internal/client analytical and non-analytical teams.
  • Ability to oversee the flow of data through various stages of web and digital use.
  • Strong visual communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, diplomacy, persuasive ability, and the ability to inspire confidence and cooperation to drive positive results within and across the organization’s boundaries.
  • General understanding of the need to cultivate and steward donors at any giving level.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

 Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; prefer concentration in Computer Graphic Technology or Visual Communication Design.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a higher education setting a plus.
