Assistant Director of Alumni Clubs

Essential Functions:

  • Support the mission of Purdue University and the Purdue for Life Foundation by helping people who love Purdue stay connected, get involved, and give back.
  • Assist with the operations of the alumni club program.
  • Advise alumni clubs and volunteers through volunteer stewardship.
    • Facilitate alumni club communications to promote engagement opportunities.
    • Develop event planning, fundraising, and communication strategy.
    • Attend and/or support alumni club activities and events.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and travel. 

Additional Responsibilities

Assist Director in administrative functions to support alumni club volunteers and alumni-driven engagement activities, including:

  • Data reporting and maintenance, including, but not limited to, contact reports and alumni engagement data reporting.
  • Coordinate ongoing communications and recruitment of new alumni volunteer leaders, as appropriate.
  • Mentor club leaders on processes, policies, and technology, as assigned.
  • Advance the alumni club scholarship program through strategic events, fundraisers, and communications.
  • Facilitate university speakers for club events. 

Alumni Relations

  • Engage with all Purdue constituents by volunteering at, participating in, and attending activities for personalized engagement through the alumni clubs and other engagement opportunities with Purdue for Life Foundation.
  • Manage an engagement portfolio to engage alumni personally, professionally, and intellectually.
  • Communicate with volunteer leaders, alumni, and friends in a timely manner to increase and develop volunteer recruitment and retention. 

Engagement Team      

  • Work as part of the Purdue for Life engagement team goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.  


  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with Purdue alumni from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds necessary. 
  • Articulate the strategic mission of Purdue University and Purdue for Life Foundation with tact and diplomacy at all times. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate well in person, in writing and speaking before groups.
  • Skilled at conversation and networking
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, project management, motivational, initiative, problem-solving, creativity and customer service skills required. 
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM program.
  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word-processing, spreadsheets, data query, internet, etc. necessary.  


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, event planning and fundraising preferred
