Director of Facility Stewardship, Donor Relations

Essential Functions

  • Manage the Purdue for Life Foundation naming procedures working with campus partners to obtain needed information to execute official requests for approval from the university naming committee, President, and/or Board of Trustees.
  • Work closely with the planned giving team to ensure all gift agreements are executed for named spaces or faculty positions and documented accordingly in Purdue for Life CRM.
  • Liaison to the university facilities team and project managers for new construction projects to obtain necessary space renderings, floor plans, and ensure donor recognition is included.
  • Identify fundraising opportunities for new facility projects and work in partnership with PFL fundraising team to communicate naming opportunities with donor prospects.
  • Develop and assist with implementation of individualized communications focused on impact of named facilities, campus spaces, and/or faculty positions facilitating donor-centered stewardship that deepens relationships and inspires future gifts.
  • Manage tracking of all West Lafayette campus donor named spaces in conjunction with the University Archives and Special Collections.
  • Respond to donor inquiries with accurate and timely information.
  • Serve as a resource for donors on development-related issues, requests and visits. Coordinate campus visits for newly recognized donor spaces.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, both centrally and unit-based.
  • Document constituent contacts in Ascend/Salesforce.
  • In collaboration with colleagues across campus, seek opportunities to provide stewardship to major gift donors.

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain named space procedures and communication with PFL staff in CRM.
  • Provide necessary details to donor relations professionals in units with named faculty positions.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Special Events and/or unit-based event teams to coordinate, plan, set goals, and attend donor-centered events recognizing named space donor recognition and/or faculty positions.
  • Participate in PFLF Develop U activities and continuing professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned may be required.

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required for written and verbal contact with donors and alumni.
  • Ability to represent the University with tact and diplomacy at all times.
  • Must be able to interact with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and ‎cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent relationship building skills for both internal and external constituents. 
  • Demonstrate competency with the CRM (Salesforce) and proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a focus on Microsoft Excel, and networked informational systems used within the Purdue for Life Foundation.
  • Strong professional ethics are required.
  • Non-profit, customer service, or sales experience preferred.
  • Thrive in a team environment with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in donor relations required.
  • Equivalent work experience can substitute for an educational degree.
