Project and Operations Manager

Essential Functions

  • Support project management and operations for the Marketing and Communications team.
  • In partnership with the director of project management, review and route requests, define project scope and timelines, outline and sequence projects, monitor and report on progress, and coordinate stakeholder interaction, with a goal of boosting the team’s productivity and ensuring a timely completion of deliverables.
  • Meet and communicate with colleagues across the organization to launch projects, create timelines, gather information, provide updates, and debrief.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the team’s digital asset management tool, provide training and support for colleagues working with the tool, and, in partnership with other team members, organize digital files.
  • Manage operational duties, including building and managing surveys in the customer relationship management tool, managing team inboxes, and, as needed, compiling social media, web, and email data to update reports.
  • Coordinate local advertising for Purdue for Life Foundation initiatives, including Purdue Day of Giving.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as the back-up lead for the team’s project management tool, and as needed, provide training and support for team members and stakeholders working with the tool.
    • Stay up-to-date with new functionality and features within the project and digital asset management tools.
  • Help ensure that Purdue for Life Foundation and Purdue University editorial and visual branding guidelines are followed.
  • Assist with identifying new marketing strategies for the Purdue for Life Foundation.
  • As needed, conduct photo research and assist with photo and video shoots.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, diplomacy, persuasive ability, and the ability to inspire confidence and cooperation to drive positive results within and across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to synthesize complex, detailed information into coherent, succinct requests.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems while being flexible.
  • General understanding of marketing material design.
  • General understanding of the need to cultivate and steward donors at any giving level.
  • Personal computer and related software skills.
  • Experience in a corporate or nonprofit marketing and communications team is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Purdue University is a plus, but not required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Liberal Arts--e.g. English, Communications, Writing, Journalism).
  • Some experience managing the development of marketing and event collateral, communicating with stakeholders, building production schedules, and reporting on progress.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
