Job Description:

At Saab Aerospace Systems in West Lafayette, IN we will manufacture the rear section of the T-7A Red Hawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. When at full capacity, Saab will employ over 250 employees in the West Lafayette facility.  This new flagship facility will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques and leverage research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio.

Our West Lafayette team is currently looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual for a Human Resources Generalist position. This role is primarily responsible for the hiring and on-boarding process at our state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing facility, as well as supporting the HR initiatives for the operation. As a Generalist, they will not only focus on managing and executing the full cycle recruiting process, they will also respond to employee inquiries concerning HR processes and help coordinate various HR initiatives. Responsibilities include: 

  • Partners with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, specific skills and experience needed for the role
  • Assists hiring managers in reviewing appropriate job postings, strategizing recruiting efforts, and tracking applicant flow
  • Trains new leaders on how to utilize the recruiting module within Workday system
  • Manages the candidate experience, from initial application through job offers, internal applicant feedback, and new employee on-boarding
  • Assists hiring manager with phone screens and on-site scheduling for high-volume recruiting needs
  • Coordinates and participates in external recruiting events and job fairs
  • Facilitates the staffing and execution of the local, summer intern program.
  • Collaborates with local high schools to build a talent pipeline through local CTE programs
  • Completes local salary analysis, making recommendations using internal and external data
  • Manages the new employee experience including onboarding, scheduling corporate orientation, maintaining local manager orientation decks, ensuring compliance with the employment eligibility verification, and coordinating relocation process as needed
  • Partners with site HR Manager to coordinate expatriate documentation compliance, on-boarding and acclimation to the US
  • Supports the leadership team with data analysis of employee pulse survey results, recruiting dashboard, HR metrics and other projects as requested
  • Provides generalist support including assistance with frontline employee inquiries, employee relation matters, and back-up coverage for HR Leader

  • Able to work extended or flexible schedule to support the business
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience in recruiting, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong PC skills (MS Suite), including proficiency in Excel (pivot tables)
  • Proven ability to be a subject matter expert with applicant tracking/HRIS systems; experience with Workday is a strong plus
  • Ability to accurately multi-task in a fast-paced environment is critical
  • Fundamental knowledge of employment law required
  • Working knowledge of HR tools: applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS, E-verify, and social networking recruiting sites
  • Experience developing collaborative partnerships at all levels of an organization, and documenting HR best practices  
  • Excellent communication, internal customer service and organizational skills
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and drive for results with minimal direct supervision 
  • Experience with recruiting and staffing for a start-up operation is a plus

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
