Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Student Life Development Office in executing the stewardship and solicitation efforts for various areas in the Division of Student Academic Affairs.
  • Administer office resources to provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries into the Student Life area, University Development Office, alumni, donors, and friends of the University.
  • Provide administrative support to Student Life Development staff members.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Student Life Development Office exemplifies the principles of donor-centered practices and processes and demonstrates to donors the importance and impact of their investments through the development and implementation of positive and innovative stewardship and solicitation programs.
  • Manage the Student Life Development gift acceptance process to ensure accuracy of donor data and generate donor status reports, management reports, etc.
  • Assist in implementing best practices in stewardship in partnership with Student Life Development staff.
  • Support the stewardship and solicitation practices in assigned areas for the purpose of creating an energetic and enthusiastic internal stewardship and solicitation culture that maximizes donor satisfaction.
  • Receive and host guests of the Student Life Development Office.
  • Craft specialized written correspondence on behalf of the Student Life Development team.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of the Student Life Development annual fund within assigned areas.
  • Organize meetings and appointments using MS Outlook; respond to high volume of requests for appointments and presentations.
  • Coordinate aspects of travel including flights, hotels, rental cars, credit card and travel documentation, and meetings with others.
  • Prepare reports and background briefings as requested.
  • Process and track expense and reimbursement forms.
  • Answer phone, make copies, maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Use independent judgment to respond to inquiries from the highest levels of the University, alumni, sponsoring agencies, and corporate entities.
  • Sustain knowledge of up-to-date development procedures and computer technology to enhance the development process and maintain efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
    • Ability to interpret and articulate the mission of Purdue University.
    • Must be able to interact with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to use tact, good judgment, diplomacy, maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion.
    • Must be a motivated, adaptable team player with the ability to work well with others in a team environment with minimal supervision.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent customer service orientation.
    • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.
    • Knowledge of Advance CS is preferred.
    • Word processing, writing, and editing skills required, specifically related to proposals, correspondence, and college publications.
    • Must be able to manage data and run reports from a variety of databases.
    • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience required.
  • Experience at Purdue University or development experience preferred.             
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 

This is a part time (25 hours/week) position.
