Development Associate - Annual Giving, Intercollegiate Athletics

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 800 annual giving prospects for Purdue Athletics
  • Identify new and cultivate/steward existing introductory-to-high level university donors.
  • Advance the John Purdue Club membership, marketing, and communications efforts, while furthering the overarching Athletics Department goal of developing student-athletes into scholars, champions, and citizens.

Additional Responsibilities:

               Premium Seating:          

  • Plan and execute solicitations for new sales (acquisition) of premium seating for football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.
  • Help direct and coordinate game day operations for Ross-Ade Pavilion and Mackey Arena premium seats, including coordination between areas such as facilities, ushering, staff, ticket office, concessions, with special emphasis on catering and alcohol services for all club spaces.

               John Purdue Club (JPC):              

  • Assist in the personal recruitment, retention, and advancement of JPC members.
  • Assist in annual giving efforts of JPC, including the donor renewal process, donor recruitment, and donor advancement.
  • Initiate and nurture relationships with donors through face to-face visits, events, and personal stewardship/cultivation initiatives.
  • Help achieve the Intercollegiate Athletic Department advancement goals by building strong relationships with a broad base of alumni and increased giving.
  • Assist in growing the department’s annual giving and JPC membership, participating in other areas of importance to Athletics.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special JPC events, both on and off campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, quantitative, organizational and project management skills necessary.
  • Must be able to multi-task and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal computing and related software skills, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database management, data queries necessary.
  • Capable of adhering to and complying with Purdue University, Purdue Research Foundation, Big 10 Conference, and NCAA applicable rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Some travel and weekend work required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Education, Sports Administration, Communication, Hospitality and Tourism management or related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of fundraising, sales, marketing, and customer service.
  • University business processes experience preferred.
