Essential Functions:

  • Working in cooperation with the Science advancement team, assist in achieving the Dean’s and Development’s advancement goals.
  • Design and execute strategic events to further the priorities of the College of Science.
  • Collaborate as a team leader to elevate the College of Science through excellent customer service of internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:            

Special Events

  • Plan and stage exemplary internal and external events, on and off campus, on behalf of the Dean and the College of Science leadership.
  • Design events to serve the Dean’s fund raising, alumni relations, and stewardship goals.
  • Communicate annual events plan with appropriate faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Working with the Chief Development Officer, manage and execute the College’s Sports and Cultural activities tickets Stewardship Program including ordering tickets, managing invitations, managing suite logistics, and coordinating pre-event activities.
  • Ensure the College’s participation in President’s Council events.
  • Maintain the Science Advancement Event calendar.
  • Provide departmental consultation for event strategy and outcomes.

Alumni Relations

  • Create imaginative events with fresh approaches designed to connect alumni and friends of the College with the Dean and College leaders.
  • Serve as the staff liaison with the Science Alumni Board.
  • Serve as the College’s representative to various entities across Purdue to ensure coordination of College and University alumni activities.
  • Represent College at Purdue events such as: Distinguished Science Alumni, Outstanding Alumni, Homecoming, Springfest, and/or other events as needed.
  • Provide valuable public relations to all Purdue constituents by volunteering at, participating in, and attending activities.
  • Maintain the alumni and development sections of the College’s website.
  • Manage questions and follow up from alumni and major donors.


  • Administratively supervise one staff member and student assistants.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, and terminations.
  • Assign, instruct and review work of staff.
  • Work as part of the development team to reach team goals.
  • Other duties as assigned. 


  • Articulate the strategic mission of Purdue University and the College of Science with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate well in writing and present to groups and individuals. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with stakeholders from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Attention to detail required, with willingness to be responsible for details.
  • Must be a team player with a great attitude and willingness to enjoy the work.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, project management, motivational, initiative, problem-solving, creativity and customer service skills required. 
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, data query, internet, etc. necessary. 
  • Must be available to work weekends and travel.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three years of alumni relations, donor stewardship, and event planning or related experience necessary. 
  • Experience in higher education or other non-profit organizations is desired but not a requirement.
