Essential Functions:

  • Provide timely and appropriate levels of personal recognition and appreciation to donors who invest their financial resources in the College of Agriculture. 
  • Work with the directors of development and the director of corporate relations to steward and nurture donors, alumni and friends of Purdue Agriculture.
  • Coordinate the College of Agriculture annual giving activities. 
  • Assist in creating marketing materials for the Purdue Ag Development office, writing direct mail letters, and creating relevant content for print and electronic media.
  • Understand key initiatives of the Unit relating to faculty, students, instruction and research.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate College of Agriculture annual giving activities through the Purdue Annual Giving Office, the College's Business Office, and Printing Services, including direct mail solicitations, the telefund, and other project-focused annual giving solicitations.
  • Oversee the creation of timely and relevant acknowledgement letters to College of Agriculture donors and coordinate acknowledgements from the Dean and from student ambassadors to donors. 
  • Develop and coordinate programs and services which enhance donor relationships with the College of Agriculture; coordinate programs and activities for giving clubs including the Dean's Club giving society.
  • Develop and coordinate communications with donors and prospects, including online presence and print publications.
  • Work with Purdue Marketing and Communications, University News Service, Printing Services, Agricultural Communications, and other offices to prepare and distribute appropriate communications for and about donors and the positive impact of their philanthropic support for Purdue Agriculture.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Ag Alumni office and work with the Ag Alumni office to coordinate donor and prospect relations activities within the larger framework of the College of Agriculture's alumni program objectives.
  • Assist in coordinating donor, alumni, and corporate visits to campus.
  • Coordinate and monitor gift stewardship for the College of Agriculture, including donor recognition and naming opportunities within the College's departments and programs.
  • Monitor and keep current the College of Agriculture web site with respect to development information.
  • Lead a portfolio of special events that support development prospecting and stewardship objectives. 
  • Take initiative to propose and develop creative concepts to enhance the College's development mission.
  • Work in concert with the Ag Alumni office to fundraise and secure sponsorships for the Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry and Purdue Ag Week. 
  • Provide support to development directors to ensure success of Agriculture's presence and involvement in university development activities and events such as President's Council Weekend, President's Council receptions and dinners.
  • Work with Purdue University Special Events office to coordinate building dedications, gift announcements and other development related special events; communicate with the Ag Alumni office and coordinate their involvement in these events where appropriate.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills required. 
  • Must have good public relations skills and the ability to use own initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Strong writing and editing skills required, specifically related to newsletters, direct mail copy writing, college publications, and other development related communications. 
  • Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing required. 
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to maintain confidential information. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office required. 
  • Attentiveness to detail and ability to meet deadlines required.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, marketing, education, non-profit management/philanthropic studies, or agriculture- related disciplines.
  • Experience in development, alumni relations, and/or event management required.
