Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and oversee specific projects within a comprehensive annual giving plan.
  • Manage projects and processes related to securing individual annual gifts on behalf of the West Lafayette campus. 
  • Drive the planning and execution of direct marketing projects from concept to completion, including interpreting scope, requirements, scheduling, budgeting, problem solving, reporting, and maintaining the integrity of the Purdue brand.
  • Manage vendor relationships and collaborate with all parties involved, including the communications team, content marketing manager, graphic designers, data programmers, donor services, vendors, and other members of the Annual Giving and Stewardship team.

Additional Responsibilities       

  • Initiate, implement, facilitate and report on projects within the comprehensive annual giving plan; including five or more direct mail and email campaigns, with the purpose of soliciting alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of the University with the goal of increasing annual giving to Purdue (funds raised and number of donors) through acquisition, renewal, reactivation, and upgrades.
  • Develop a detailed project plan, including scope, timelines, audience segmentation, budget, vendor recommendations, and campaign plan.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and manage the communication and workflow with the content marketing manager on the messaging for all materials; the graphic designer on design creation; the data team on data selection and output files; and the vendor to ensure timely implementation and completion of creative campaigns that contain visual appeal, compelling philanthropic messages, as well as variable data and content.
  • Maintain a comprehensive schedule and coordinate production of communications projects on time, within scope and within budget. Use appropriate techniques to manage and document changes in the project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to proof and copy edit materials for print and electronic based fundraising pieces, as well as verify data in files for accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary contact with direct response vendors and maintain vendor relations.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of Annual Giving campaigns, make critical adjustments, and recommendations for continued success when necessary; track progress and document outcomes
  • Work closely, collaborate, develop, and maintain relationships with colleagues in the central annual giving and stewardship office, in addition developing effective partnerships throughout the department to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our efforts.
  • Participate in strategy meetings and assist with planning the central Annual Giving solicitation calendar.
  • Assist with data management; including identifying standard exclusions and audience segmentation.
  • Perform other development –related assignments and special projects as requested by supervisor; including, but not limited to recommendations for an anniversary program, in addition to upgrade and retention strategies.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to inspire confidence and cooperation to drive positive results within and across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong time management skills, personal computer and related software skills, especially with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent proofreading, spelling, grammar, punctuation and editing skills with precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, assume responsibility, prioritize and carry out duties with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Flexibility to be able to pivot effectively between different projects, voices, channels, and communication styles.
  • Regular and reliable attendance are requirements of this position.

Preferred:

  • Broad knowledge of annual giving practices in a higher education setting
  • Persuasive communication skills.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience required.
  • Fundraising and direct mail experience preferred.
